Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications Urges Compliance with SIM Re-registration Process
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has advised mobile network subscribers to complete the ongoing SIM re-registration process before the April 17, 2023 deadline. In a statement, the Chamber reiterated its commitment to the ongoing exercise, encouraging its members to comply with the National Communications Authority’s directive to delink all SIM cards from databases, including those blocked in November 2022, which failed to complete the two stages of the re-registration process. The Chamber also warned that SIM cards registered after the limit of 10 per individual will be deactivated and delinked from databases on April 17, 2023.
To avoid inconvenience, subscribers with Ghana cards are encouraged to complete the second stage of the registration process. The Chamber emphasized its commitment to ensuring that subscribers are registered in every part of the country and urged those who require assistance with the exercise to contact their service provider.
“It is crucial that the networks’ cherished customers are not barred from using voice, data, USSD, mobile money services and continue to have access to emergency and other important services,” the Chamber said.
The Chamber further stated that mobile network operators were obliged to completely deactivate all impacted subscriber SIMs which have not completed the registration by the said date without any further notice or extension of time for subscribers.
